Comparing Homes - below are questions that will help you narrow down your choice of homes.
  • Is it in the price range you budgeted for?  Have you already met with a loan consultant to find out how much home you can afford and what the monthly payments would be on the high and low ends?
  • What are the taxes on the property?
  • Do you like the neighborhood?  Is it safe?  Will your home build equity on it’s own?
  • Do you like the area it’s in… are there parks, grocery stores, churches and other necessities nearby?
  • If you have children, is it in a good school district?
  • Is it in a noisy area?  (i.e. on a busy street, near outside dogs, or in an airport fly zone)
  • If it’s on a busy street, are you ok with that?  Make sure you think about this one, especially if you have outside pets or children.
  • Do you like the home and neighborhood during the day and night times?
  • Is your commute to work too long?  Drive the commute during rush hours before you buy to be sure.
  • What is the size of the home?  Will it be big enough down the road?  (i.e. with additions like pets and kids)
  • What parts of the home need to be updated?  (kitchens cost more than bathrooms, etc)
  • Have you made a list of priorities, your ‘must haves’, and does each house meet those?  Are you willing to give any of them up?
  • If the yard is large, are you ready to handle caring for it?
